“Please come get me. I’m Scared.”

Six year old Hind was in a car with her family when snipers shot at them. Her older cousin Layan called the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS). While on the phone with them, fifteen year old Layan was shot. Hind took the phone and continued the call. She informed the PRCS that her cousin was killed. She was surrounded by the dead bodies of her family. She pleaded with the PRCS, “Please come get me. I’m scared.” The phone call dropped. They lost touch with Hind. The PRCS got in touch with the Israeli army and asked for clearance to send an ambulance to get Hind. They were given permission. Two heroes, Yusuf Zeino and Ahmed Al-Madhoun, left to rescue Hind from her living hell. Soon after, PRCS lost communications with their paramedics. For 12 days, everyone was asking where is Hind? Where are the paramedics that were sent to save her? 12 days later, the decomposed bodies of Hind, her family and the paramedics were found by Palestinians after the Israeli army withdrew from the area. The horrific scene left no doubt that the ambulance was targeted by tank shelling and that Hind’s family were shot by snipers in their head. Six year old Hind was left to die surrounded by the dead bodies of her loved ones after witnessing the ambulance, her only hope, being shot in front of her. Who would subject a child to such horrors?
