The Soul of my Soul Exhibit team will be featuring “Art from the Rubble
(Turning destruction into hope)”. According to The Hands Up Project team, the UK group that
sponsors art workshops in Gaza, the vision for “Art from the Rubble” is rooted in transforming
pain into art and rubble into a message.
The exhibit will take place on Saturday Oct. 10, 2026, from 11 AM to 5 PM at the Livermore
Art Walk downtown Livermore Hosted by The Soul of my Soul Exhibit team in partnership
with UK based, The Hands Up Project, the exhibit will show how art and poetry are transforming
pain for the children of Gaza. Exhibit highlights:
“Art from the Rubble” (art and poetry)
Kite Solidarity Art: participants will be able to write and draw on a paper kite which will be
placed with other kites to share messages of solidarity with the children of Gaza.
Art from Sliman Mansour. He was a Palestinian painter, sculptor, author, and cartoonist,
widely regarded as one of the most distinguished figures in contemporary Palestinian
art. Mansour’s work is central to the Liberation Art Movement, giving visual expression
to the cultural concept of sumud (steadfastness) and the Palestinian struggle.
Blanche Shaheen, author of “Feast in the Middle East” cookbook will be sharing cooking
tips and cultural history of Palestinian cuisine.
Learn to Dabke dance sessions throughout the day along with Palestinian music.
Vendors featuring Palestinian pottery, olive oil, and olive wood sculptures.

Art from the Rubble brings together teachers, artists, and children to transform the debris of war
into creativity and resilience. Through painting, storytelling, and shared expression, young
people are finding light amid the ruins and sharing their voices with the world. This project is not
only about survival — it’s about resistance through art and the belief that creativity can rise
